The Foundation of MAB

After a one-month excursion through the intrepid landscapes of Patagonia, MAB was founded in the small suburban town of Armonk, NY.  It was April of 2018 and at the time, Jon Berry, Alex Katz, and Michael Stein were just three guys experimenting with sound and storytelling in the depths of their parent's basements.

As time passed, their sound evolved and the vision for MAB expanded. The inception of  ‘A World Beyond My Own’ came to life when Jon and Alex were hanging one evening on 2019's summer solstice. As two dreamers who always believed in the transformative power of music, they decorated their message of universal kinship with lush, dreamy synths. This track would ultimately become the last song on MAB’s EP ‘A World Beyond Our Own’ and the final song that Jon and Alex would ever create together.

In November of 2019, as Alex and Jon sat in Alex’s hospital room, Alex’s doctor came in.

Upon learning that they went by the name MAB, he was taken aback. He continued to explain how mabs are antibodies that fight cancerous cells, antibodies that kept Alex alive during his first four battles with the deadly disease.

By the end of the month, Alex had journeyed on to his next life. Though no longer with us, his remarkable spirit would continue to inspire and guide MAB. In the following weeks, Michael went his own way. Still, Jon was determined to keep their dreams alive, to finish what they started, to combat society's cancerous cells by building a new world through music.

In 2020, he created 'BECOME'.
